Ceramics Industry
To incorporate plasticizers into PVC-based cable or wire insulation and ensure they remain functional even in the event of a fire, the respective systems should be filled with a maximum of flame-retardant components.
The specific processing temperature determines the type here:
ALFRIMAL® based on aluminum hydroxide, acts as a flame retardant by releasing one third of its weight as water at ambient temperatures of approximately 200 °C and above.
ALFRIMAL® MG, based on magnesium hydroxide, on the other hand, only releases its crystal-bound water at temperatures above 250 °C and also acts as an effective smoke gas scavenger for acidic combustion gases, both in halogen-containing and halogen-free systems.
