If a flame-retardant finish is required for plastic products, the plastic systems are equipped with a water-releasing flame retardant from the ALFRIMAL® product group. Here, the respective processing temperature determines the type of product base: ALFRIMAL®, based on aluminium hydroxide, has a flame-retardant effect by releasing one third of its weight as water at an ambient temperature of approx. 200 °C and above. ALFRIMAL® MG based on magnesium hydroxide, on the other hand, releases its crystal-bound water only at temperatures above 250 °C and also acts as an effective flue gas scavenger of acidic fire gases, both in halogen-containing and halogen-free systems.
